The Vitamin D Controversy

Many of my patients have raised concerns about the levels of vitamin D supplement they are taking because of the Institute of Medicine report about vitamin D.   The Alliance for Natural Health has a response to their concerns.  The Alliance report discusses the inaccuracies of the Institue report as described by one of the experts on the panel.  The bottom line is that your dose of vitamin D3 at 1000iu’s to 5000iu’s per day seems to be quite safe according to our present knowledge.  Many people tolerate larger doses.  Everyone should monitor their vitamin D blood level which should not go over 150 nmol/l.
